Account Profile

How do I edit my profile?
Go to My Hive, then click on profile tab. Make your changes and be sure to click on the orange Update Information button.
How do I put a picture up/change my avatar?
Go to My Hive and click on the profile tab. You can upload a picture there, then click on the Update Information button. Pictures work best when they are in a square shape and about 175 x 175 pixels.
Is my information public or private?
» As of now, your username, your first and last name, location and blog are public. If you prefer your name to be anonymous, you can use initials or an alias.
» Your email is kept private.
What if I forgot my password/Hive ID?
Click on the “Forgot password?” link in the middle of the login page.
How do I change my password?
Go into My Hive, then Edit Profile. You can change your password in the field boxes provided.
How do I change my Hive ID?
Unfortunately you cannot change your username once you have picked it. However, you are welcome to start a new account with a different username. If you want to keep your bookmarks, just use the "hive it!" button to quick copy your bookmarks into your new account.
Themes
You can change the theme on your My Hive! The theme is the top graphic in your My Hive as well as the color scheme. Just go to My Hive, click on the purple "profile" tab, then click on the purple "themes" tab. Browse the themes, then click on "select this theme" for the theme that you want. You can also check out the most popular themes by going to "people" in the top navigation.
Email preferences
If you want to just change email notifications for the follows emails, just go to your bookmarks page and click on the Follows tab. On the right hand side, click on the "edit follows preferences" to change your email notifications to "daily", "weekly", or "never".

Bookmarking

How do I bookmark?
You can use the bookmarklet or you can go to the save bookmark link.
Bookmarklet
The first way is to simply install our Bookmarklet into your browser. After installation, to bookmark a page while you are surfing, simply click on the Stylehive Bookmarklet button on your browser’s toolbar. A window will pop open where you can add a description, images, tags and other content. Works best in Firefox.
Copying a bookmark
» You can use the hive it button within any bookmark on the site to immediately add the bookmark to your own Hive.
» You can also use the green hive / edit button within any bookmark on the site if you want to personalize the bookmark by making changes to the description, images and tags.
How do I bookmark a flash site?
Unfortunately the bookmarklet does not yet support flash sites. However you can still bookmark the URL for the flash site and add the images manually. The best way to do this is to do a screen capture (control + Prt Scr on PCs), edit the image and then upload it onto an online photo manager like Flickr, Photobucket or Grabbr. Then enter the URL under the “Image” tag on the bookmarklet.
Seeing your bookmarks
Go to your My Hive page, which you can access via the link in the top left navigation.
Edit or delete a bookmark
Go to your My Hive page and click on the green “Edit” or “Delete” button within any post.

Tagging

What is a tag?
A tag is a label or keyword associated with a particular bookmark. Bookmarks in the Stylehive can have multiple tags. A tag can be a type of product, a brand name or a category.
Why should I use tags?
It makes it easier for you and other Stylehive members to find your bookmarks.
Examples:
» Examples of tags for a bookmark on Marc Jacob’s espadrilles include: espadrilles, marc jacobs, shoes, womens, designer.
» A high quality tag is a word that other Stylehive members would commonly search for when looking for that particular kind of bookmark.
How do I edit or delete my tags?
You can also use the green Edit button within any of your bookmarks to add or delete tags.

Sharing

How do I send a bookmark to a friend?
» You can send a bookmark by going to any bookmark page on the site and clicking on the red send it button. Enter in any email addresses and personal comments and click send it
» You can also send a bookmark through the bookmarklet. After you fill in the bookmarklet with all your content, enter in their email address(es) in the top right field under “Send this page to a friend” and click on the “Send and Save” button.
How do I send a page to a friend?
You’ll notice that many of our pages, like the page with all your bookmarks, have a “Send this page to a friend” form field in the top right. You can enter multiple email addresses in this field as well as any personal comments.
How do I invite friends to the Hive?
» You can invite friends to the Hive by going to My Hive and clicking on Invite a friend.
» You can also invite friends through My Contacts and click on “Invite All”.

Wishlists

How do I create or add a wishlist?
» To add a bookmark to your wishlist, just look for the yellow “add to wishlist” buttons on any bookmark in the Hive. Click on the button to add to or create a new wishlist.
» Or when saving a bookmark, create a new wishlist in the wishlist tag box on the bookmarklet.
» You can add an item to your personal wishlist ( “myself” ), or you can create a name for the wishlist like “birthday”, “new apartment”, or “wedding”.
How do I rename or delete my wishlist?
If you go to your bookmarks page, you can manage your wishlists on the right hand side. Just click on “rename” or “delete” next to the wishlist you want to edit.
How can I remove items from my wishlist?
Every bookmark in your wishlist has a yellow “delete from wishlist” button.
How can I share/send my wishlists?
Simply click on the wishlist on your “my bookmarks” page and email the page to friends.
How do I see someone else’s wishlist?
To see other hive members wishlists, go to their bookmarks page, and click on the name of the wishlist you wish to explore.
Can I copy someone else’s wishlist?
To copy another member’s entire wishlist, simply go to their bookmark page in the Hive, click on the name of the wishlist you wish to copy, and click the “copy wishlist” button. The entire wishlist will be copied to your Hive.

When you visit another member's hive, click on the red "invite others to follow" button under their profile photo. The pop-up screen will allow you to invite your friends to follow that member.
How do I send a message to my followers?
You can send a message to your followers by going to your My Hive, filling in the field box on the right that says "send a message to your followers", then just click the orange "send" button.

Stylehive Badge Widget

Import contacts

You can import all your contacts from Gmail, Yahoo, AOL, MSN Hotmail and Outlook. Go to My Hive, select the service you wish to import from and enter your user name and password on that service. MS Outlook users can upload CSV files. If you have contacts spread over 3 or 4 services, the system will delete duplicates and create a single, consolidated list for you.

How are my points calculated?

You get the most points when you originate a bookmark and members copy it. Every time someone copies your bookmark, you get a point. If you copy a bookmark that you did not originate, you still get points when members copy it after you.

What does the popularity score mean?

The popularity score is a reflection of how much copying has occurred within a tag or a site over a period of time.

What is RSS?

RSS is a way to read all your favorite sites without having to go to them individually to see if they are updated. A “feed reader” program such as Bloglines checks the users list of websites and displays any updated articles in one convenient location.

You can search for anything and everything by using the field box in the top right corner of the site.
By default, the search will return tags that are related to your search query. But, you can focus your search by clicking on a refinement to search bookmarks, sites, people, etc.
You can search your own Hive with Stylehive's Google-powered search feature. Go to "My Bookmarks" and if you scroll down to the right you will find a search box where you can enter any search term and hit "enter".

How do I include images that are not on the page?

What is the Stylehive?

The Stylehive is a social bookmarking community focused entirely on products and shopping. We are in search of the freshest and most interesting new products, brands and designers from around the globe. Creating a bookmark

Bookmarklet

The first way is to simply install our Bookmarklet into your browser. After installation, to bookmark a page while you are surfing, simply click on the Stylehive Bookmarklet button on your browser’s toolbar. A window will pop open where you can add a description, images, tags and other content.

Copying a bookmark

You can use the purple Quick Copy button within any bookmark on the site to immediately add the bookmark to your own Hive.
You can also use the green Copy and Edit button within any bookmark on the site if you want to personalize the bookmark by making changes to the description, images and tags.

How do I bookmark a flash site?

Unfortunately the bookmarklet does not yet support flash sites. However you can still bookmark the URL for the flash site and add the images manually. The best way to do this is to do a screen capture (control + Prt Scr on PCs), edit the image and then upload it onto an online photo manager like Flickr, Photobucket or Grabbr. Then enter the URL under the “Image” tag on the bookmarklet.

Go to your My Hive page, which you can access via the link in the top left navigation

Edit or delete a bookmark

Go to your My Hive page and click on the green “Edit” or “Delete” button within any post

How do I include images that are not on the page?

Sometimes there are images you want to save, but they aren’t in the images panel. You can easily add images from other pages by entering the image URL under the “Image” tag. For PC users, just right click on the image and scroll to “copy image location”, then paste into the “Image” field box.

TAGGING

What is a tag?

A tag is a label or keyword associated with a particular bookmark. Bookmarks in the Stylehive can have multiple tags. A tag can be a type of product, a brand name or a category.

Why should I use tags?

It makes it easier for you and other Stylehive members to find your bookmarks.

Examples:

Examples of tags for a bookmark on Marc Jacob’s espadrilles include: espadrilles, marc jacobs, shoes, womens, designer
A high quality tag is a word that other Stylehive members would commonly search for when looking for that particular kind of bookmark.

How do I edit or delete my tags?

You can also use the green Copy and Edit button within any of your bookmarks to add or delete tags.

How do I send a bookmark to a friend?

You can send a bookmark by going to any bookmark page on the site and entering email addresses and any personal comments under the “Send this page to a friend” field on the right side of the page near the top.
You can also send a bookmark through the bookmarklet. After you fill in the bookmarklet with all your content, enter in their email address(es) in the top right field under “Send this page to a friend” and click on the “Send and Save” button.

How do I send a page to a friend?

You’ll notice that many of our pages, like the page with all your bookmarks, have a “Send this page to a friend” form field in the top right. You can enter multiple email addresses in this field as well as any personal comments.

How do I invite friends to the Hive?

You can invite friends to the Hive by going to My Hive and clicking on Invite a friend.
You can also invite friends through My Contacts and click on “Invite All”.

The “follows” features allows you to:

Get a daily or weekly email update on the people you follow in the Hive
See who is following you
See who is submitting the hottest recommendations
See who has been posting recently in the Hive

How do I follow someone?

You can follow any user by going to their bookmarks page and clicking on the red “Follow this person” button next to their name.
You can manage and see all the members you follow by clicking on the follows tab above your name on your bookmarks page. You can also see which members other users follow by clicking on the follows tab above their name.

How do change my follows email preferences?

If you want to just change email notifications for the follows emails, just go to your bookmarks page and click on the Follows tab. On the right hand side, click on the "edit follows preferences" to change your email notifications to "daily", "weekly", or "never".

How do I add a follows badge to my blog?

Put our new follows badge on your blog to make it easier to build a following in the Hive. Anyone who clicks on your badge will automatically become one of your Hive followers. The more people that follow you, the higher your chances are that you'll appear on our "Popular People" home page! Example html:

How do I create or add a wishlist?

To add a bookmark to your wishlist, just look for the yellow “add to wishlist” buttons on any bookmark in the Hive. Click on the button to add to or create a new wishlist.
Or when saving a bookmark, create a new wishlist in the wishlist tag box on the bookmarklet.
You can add an item to your personal wishlist ( “myself” ), or you can create a name for the wishlist like “birthday”, “new apartment”, or “wedding”.

How do I rename or delete my wishlist?

If you go to your bookmarks page, you can manage your wishlists on the right hand side. Just click on “rename” or “delete” next to the wishlist you want to edit.

How can I remove items from my wishlist?

Every bookmark in your wishlist has a yellow “delete from wishlist” button.

How can I share/send my wishlists?

Simply click on the wishlist on your “my bookmarks” page and email the page to friends.

How do I see someone else’s wishlist?

To see other hive members wishlists, go to their bookmarks page, and click on the name of the wishlist you wish to explore.

Can I copy someone else’s wishlist?

To copy another member’s entire wishlist, simply go to their bookmark page in the Hive, click on the name of the wishlist you wish to copy, and click the “copy wishlist” button. The entire wishlist will be copied to your Hive.

How are my points calculated?

You get the most points when you originate a bookmark and members copy it. Every time someone copies your bookmark, you get a point. If you copy a bookmark that you did not originate, you still get points when members copy it after you.

What does the popularity score mean?

The popularity score is a reflection of how much copying has occurred within a tag or a site over a period of time.

What is the Stylehive badge?

The badge works with our site and allows you to display pictures of your favorite products on your blog or website. You can show a rotating stream of images from all your bookmarks, or from specific tags like "fashion" or "shoes".

How do I add the badge to my blog or website?

Go to My Hive, and click on “Create a Stylehive badge for my blog” and it will take you through the steps.

STYLEHIVE "HIVE THIS" LINK

Adding the “Hive This” link to your blog or website will allow your users to easily bookmark your content in the Hive. You can add this link to all your blog posts, or product pages if you are a retailer. Many of our members have opted to place this link next to “email to a friend” etc.

What is RSS?

RSS is a way to read all your favorite sites without having to go to them individually to see if they are updated. A “feed reader” program such as Bloglines checks the users list of websites and displays any updated articles in one convenient location.

You can search for anything and everything by using the field box in the top right corner of the site.
By default, the search will return tags that are related to your search query. But, you can focus your search by clicking on a refinement to search bookmarks, sites, people, etc.
You can search your own Hive with Stylehive's Google-powered search feature. Go to "My Bookmarks" and if you scroll down to the right you will find a search box where you can enter any search term and hit "enter".

How do I edit my profile?

Go to My Hive, then click on the orange Edit Profile button. Make your changes and be sure to click on the orange Update Information button.

How do I put my picture up?

Go to My Hive and click on the Edit Profile button. You can upload a picture there, then click on the Update Information button. Pictures work best when they are in a square shape and about 175 x 175 pixels.

Is my information public or private?

As of now, your username, your first and last name, location and blog are public. If you prefer your name to be anonymous, you can use initials or an alias.
Your email is kept private.

Import contacts

You can import all your contacts from Gmail, Yahoo, AOL, MSN Hotmail and Outlook. Go to My Hive, select the service you wish to import from and enter your user name and password on that service. MS Outlook users can upload CSV files. If you have contacts spread over 3 or 4 services, the system will delete duplicates and create a single, consolidated list for you.

What if I forgot my password or username?

Click on the “Forgot password?” link in the middle of the login page.

How do I change my password?

Go into My Hive, then Edit Profile. You can change your password in the field boxes provided.

How do I change my username?

Unfortunately you cannot change your username once you have picked it. However, you are welcome to start a new account with a different username. If you want to keep your bookmarks, just quick copy your bookmarks into your new account.

Sometimes there are images you want to save, but they aren’t in the images panel. You can easily add images from other pages by entering the image URL under the “Image” tag. For PC users, just right click on the image and scroll to “copy image location”, then paste into the “Image” field box.

What is a tag?

A tag is a label or keyword associated with a particular bookmark. Bookmarks in the Stylehive can have multiple tags. A tag can be a type of product, a brand name or a category.

Why should I use tags?

It makes it easier for you and other Stylehive members to find your bookmarks.

Examples:

Examples of tags for a bookmark on Marc Jacob’s espadrilles include: espadrilles, marc jacobs, shoes, womens, designer

A high quality tag is a word that other Stylehive members would commonly search for when looking for that particular kind of bookmark.

How do I edit or delete my tags?

You can also use the green Copy and Edit button within any of your bookmarks to add or delete tags.

How do I send a bookmark to a friend?

You can send a bookmark by going to any bookmark page on the site and entering email addresses and any personal comments under the “Send this page to a friend” field on the right side of the page near the top.

You can also send a bookmark through the bookmarklet. After you fill in the bookmarklet with all your content, enter in their email address(es) in the top right field under “Send this page to a friend” and click on the “Send and Save” button.

How do I send a page to a friend?

You’ll notice that many of our pages, like the page with all your bookmarks, have a “Send this page to a friend” form field in the top right. You can enter multiple email addresses in this field as well as any personal comments.

How do I invite friends to the Hive?

You can invite friends to the Hive by going to My Hive and clicking on Invite a friend.

You can also invite friends through My Contacts and click on “Invite All”.

How do I follow someone?

You can follow any user by going to their bookmarks page and clicking on the red “Follow this person” button next to their name.

You can manage and see all the members you follow by clicking on the follows tab above your name on your bookmarks page. You can also see which members other users follow by clicking on the follows tab above their name.

How do I create or add a wishlist?

To add a bookmark to your wishlist, just look for the yellow “add
