Always the cutting edge trend-setter, Lindsay Lohan was one of the first starlets to hop on the Hervé Léger bandwagon, and was soon followed by pretty much every single big named star. Back in 2006, Lilo showed up at a dinner celebrating the Cartier Charity Love Bracelet looking absolutely stunning in a black and white Herve Leger halter style bandage dress, which hugged her famous curves in all the right places. Two years later, that famous dress is FINALLY on sale so we too can get in on this massive trend. Get the Look: Herve Leger Bandage Halter Dress, Was: $1,480, NOW $1,036. Still think the price tag is a bit too high? Click here for my Hervé Léger investigation for an in depth analysis to help you decide if it’s worth the investment!
On Project Runway, Nina Garcia is definitely a tough cookie when it comes to judging the designers’ creations each week. However, when a style or look does get her seal of approval, you know it has to be something spectacular. This summer, as with all seasons, there’s a whole array of trends to choose from - some fabulous, others not so much. I got the chance to chat with Nina at the Peabody Awards where I asked which trends were at the top of her list. Click READ MORE to see what made the cut.
In a few weeks, the leaves will begin to change colors, the air will become a bit more chilly, the days will become shorter, and fall merchandise will come out to play. If you’re looking to add a new clutch for the season, I recommend the Erego Clutch from 3.1 Phillip Lim. The camel calf hair and black leather trim is a warm color and fabric choice for the season. Something about this bag, and maybe it’s the calf hair, makes it exude a cozy effect. Can’t you just imagine sitting outside of Café Lalo in your fabulous fall coat and new Phillip Lim bag as you anxiously wait for a table to free up? Um, that makes me wish it was September already.
Everyone tells me I look like Philip Seymour Hoffman. Which is fine, he’s cool. But I want to look like Sting, circa 1982. So who do I go to for a total body transformation? The husband-and-wife personal trainer team who own High Performance. They fell in love in boxing class. Need I say more? Here’s the catch. They’ve only got six weeks to get my pudgy ass into rock star shape. Because in six weeks, New York Fashion Week starts. And this season, I will not be the fattest dude at the tents. So READ MORE for more about my trainers Elizabeth and Clay (like the fact he trained Matt Damon), click the SLIDESHOW for pics of my humiliating Week 1, and watch a quick VIDEO for a snippet of me struggling to use my stomach for something other than luring nachos to their death.
I have an obsession with grunge fashion these days, but I’m learning that cleaning up my look can be a positive! You want to be versatile with your closet - be the girl who can pull off any look, right? I was browsing the new Stylediary posts when I came along Seira-y, and I fell in love with her sleek clean look. It reminds me of when Kate Moss spends time getting ready, or when Jennifer Aniston is on top of her game. So follow my lead - take a break from the flowwy/boho getup, and knock ‘em dead in this killer, sophisticated style. Check out the SLIDESHOW to master pretty and polished!
Did you tune into Gossip Girl last season just for an hour-long fashion fix? Did you ever miss a key plot point because you were daydreaming about Blair Waldorf’s latest Balenciaga handbag? Well...so were the rest of the 2.7 million viewers. Gossip Girl is more than a show about Manhattan’s elite private schools; it’s a cultural phenomenon that has had a great impact on retail trends, making preppy staples like piped blazers and argyle fashionable again. And although the television season has ended (you can watch repeats on The CW Monday nights), we’re sure its ritzy, collegiate style will be showing up in department stores nationwide when the Back to School season begins. Now if only there was a definitive answer to: “How old is too old to wear knee-socks and a short pleated skirt?”
Distant cousin to the dreaded tie-dye, ombré is the best of both the carefree and the style-conscious worlds. Personally, I love the option of having multiple colors that don’t necessarily come from the same palate, and being able wear them without looking like Rainbow Brite, not to mention the eye-catching, slimming and enhancing effect on one’s figure! With all of the benefits, one would think that such a gentle gradient of color could only belong on a yoga master or hippie, but ombré can be found on Prada bags, sweaters, bathing suits, and a variety of dresses galore. Click on the SLIDESHOW and let ombré change your life!

While prancing through Stylediary one lovely morning looking for a unique fashionista, moeppi instantly caught my eye. I love how her style is very well put-together, but has an effortless boho vibe to it. I was drawn to this outfit in particular, and love the ballerina influence behind it. The fitted shorts, casual tee-shirt, pale color palette and pulled back hair give her that soft demure ballerina style and the look is clean and simple as well as creative and fresh. Check out my SLIDESHOW to get her BB look!
Flats have been gracing the feet of many a stylish and sensible woman for decades (See Audrey). Heels no longer signify ‘going out’ or ‘at the office’ - flats can go anywhere, let you do anything, and can make you look as good as any heel can. (Okay, it may not have the same effect as a stiletto heel does, but did I mention you can actually walk in comfort for more than a block?) My personal favorite is the ballet flat, with a comfortable rounded toe, an elastic strap for support, a ribbon or bow here or there, and maybe some elastic ruching in the back for the perfect fit and contour. Everyone from Marc Jacobs to La Garçonne and Miu Miu have been drawing inspiration from the dance-inspired footwear. To add some drama ito your life click on the SLIDESHOW to see a few of my favorite flats.
At the 16th annual ESPY Awards, Heroes star Kristen Bell made a striking splash, showing off a hot new ‘do in a super hot ensemble that was uptown chic with a funky downtown edge . Kristen packed a lot of punch into her petite frame with a sassy strapless Jill Stuart dress paired with Jimmy Choo strappy sandals finished off with a gold frame clutch and statement-making accessories including a Bochic necklace and Amrapali bracelet for a fabulously fierce look that radiated confidence and more sex appeal than we’ve ever seen from the diminutive star. Check out my SLIDESHOW to get the look!
Modern, sophisticated and utterly chic, Stylehiver Ximenarm’s picks look cut and pasted from the New York or Paris society pages. Couture ball gowns, sequined Studio 54-style cocktail dresses, thick bangle jewelry and modern museum-worthy housewares are just just some of the items that make her Hive feel like a curated show! And when it comes to fashion, Ximenarm seems relatively unaffected by the summer season and its corresponding trends. While others bookmark delicate pastel prints, open-toe flats and cotton sundresses, Ximenarm stays cosmopolitan cool with structured shift dresses in bold patterns and ultra high-end gladiator heels. Her urban-chic style has definitely got me hooked! Check out my Slideshow to see 5 favorite looks from today’s featured Stylehiver!

Every week Stylehive brings you five of the week’s top home decor deals, because as much as we all love a great steal on a new top or a pair of shoes, it’s nice to tend to a room that isn’t your closet from time to time. I suppose you could tend to both at the same time if you’re a talented multi-tasking shopper like someone I happen to know quite well, but that’s a matter of personal preference. Anyway, this week’s picks are extra special as we’ve included a few must-haves from Nordstrom’s Anniversary Sale - but you’ll have to see them to believe them, so hurry and click on the slideshow! Deals like these won’t last long.
When it comes to cultivating a fabulous personal style, every fashion insider will tell you it’s not about the hottest trends or fanciest labels, it’s about self-awareness and having a solid understanding of what works and what doesn’t on you personally. Tim Gunn even pointed to self-awareness as the main ingredient in Heidi Klum‘s recipe for fabulousness. So now we know what we need, but how do we get it? I caught up with the fabulously fashionable Nina Garcia, clad in a Lela Rose sheath dress paired with fierce black studded Alaia platforms, at the Peabody Awards where I asked just that. Click READ MORE to see her response.
