This year’s Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week filled all of our bathing suit needs. There were styles for every body shape, endless color combinations, and chic cover-ups everywhere we looked. Gottex featured bright colors and geometric cuts while L.A.M.B. took a go at the high-waisted look. Look to Lacoste if you want full coverage; their 40’s-inspired one-piece suits mix just the right amounts of pretty and sporty. Rosa Cha‘s collection was more conceptual with it’s innovative cuts and materials (I’m a big fan of the newspaper print one.)

Menswear trends continue to get sporty at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week. Bright colors, sporty stripes, and shorter shorts mark the upcoming trends in menswear for Spring.
While turquoise and reds made bold statements, grey and tan continue to be strong contenders in menswear. The ever-evolving trench was in nearly every collection, updated in new colors and interesting cuts.
The shows also got playful this season. Buckler began its show to the 007 theme song, with a man in a tux carrying a water gun, while Custo took bright colors and patterns to a whole new level.

Met Life teamed up with the whole Peanuts gang during Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week to present Snoopy in Fashion, a collaboration of designers showing their interpretation of the original Snoop Dog and his friends. The show featured looks from many different designers at many different price points, including Heatherette, Jason Wu, and Liz Claiborne. All of the looks from Snoopy in Fashion are available on Ebay and the money will go to benefit Dress for Success. CONTEST RULES: This Swag Steal will go to the person who can come up with the most inventive (while…

My good fashion karma must be paying off (I saw socks with flip-flops the other day and didn’t even say anything!) because somehow I scored a front row seat at the Reem Acra show in the Bryant Park Tents! And yes, front row seats are all they are cracked up to be: a famous celebrity photographer took my picture (I’m sure he thought I was someone else), and I was close enough to see that one model also had blisters on the back of her feet (wow, they are real people after all)!

Here at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week the fashion at the shows are almost as exciting as the fashion in the shows!
I spotted this uber-fashionista, Shinji Lee Kaiser, outside the Bryant Park tents following the Max Azria show. She confided in me that she is a loyal follower of Marc Jacobs, emphasized by her head-to-toe Marc by Marc Jacobs outfit.
The scalloped bib on this mini is simply gorgeous, and she is perfectly accessorized with her shades, small watch, and (like everyone else at fashion week) her patent leather bag!
Shinji, we likey!

After going to dozens of shows over the past seven days, many of the Spring 2008 collections have begun to look the same to me; same color tones, same silhouettes, same fabric choices.
However, this season, evening wear has been consistently original across the board.
Flip through any magazine right now and you’ll see that evening wear is ascendant. There is a trend shift right now towards dressing up (as women have obviously decided it’s better to be a little overdressed than underdressed!).

As Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week continues, so do the grab bags! The Bryant Park Hotel (across the street from the tents) features several suites where celebs and industry insiders could go to relax, get a massage, mani/pedi, makeup touchups, and most importantly - free swag! I stopped off at the Boots suite, where they were doing foot massages (you have no idea how badly 4” heels hurt after 6 hours of shows!!!) and promoting their beauty products, some of which ended up in my bag. I will send all four products to the first person to name…

The Gottex show by Gideon Oberson closed day two of fashion week with quite a stir! The show was so popular that they actually had to turn away people with tickets. As the show began, we were instantly transported to the beaches of Brazil, St. Tropez, and the Greek Isles. Each piece was so intricate and innovative in construction, its hard to believe they were meant to touch water. The collection was entitled “Brazilian Bond Girls.” The suits were sexed up while remaining sophisticated, with quite a bit of embellishments, and perfectly placed cut-outs. I couldn’t…

Femininity is ruling the runways with a velvet fist at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in New York City. The reemergence of “pretty,” exemplified primarily by flesh and rose toned dresses, shows these five representative designers in a light, carefree frame of mind, with uplifting creations that bespeak innocence and freedom. Clockwise from left to right, Carlos Miele for Terexov, Toni Maticevski, Erin Fetherston, BCBGMaxAzria, and Badgley Mischka have all employed similar palettes in their Spring 2008 lines. Paired with ethereal makeup and wind blown hair, Miele’s long satin gowns oozed feminine elegance, while Erin Fetherston‘s vintage-inspired frock could be…

Whether you’re all about eye protection, or you need to hide from the paparazzi, Oliver Peoples has you covered. But with so many fashion-forward styles, how’s a girl to choose? Start with your face shape, and go from there. SQUARE FACES If you have a strong jawline like Fergie and Rosario Dawson, you want to soften up your look. Go for cat-eye and oval shapes, like this Coquette pair. OBLONG FACES If you have an oblong face like Jennifer Aniston and Sarah Jessica Parker, you shouldn’t wear sunglass that are…

The dresses at the BCBG Max Azria show were so effortlessly chic you could throw one on with dirty hair and no makeup and somehow look fabulously put together. The collection was light and breezy, in layers of earth tones, embracing this season’s trend of uber-feminine looks. The designer, Lubov Azria, described it as “etch[ing] the silhouette with luminosity using layers of transparencies”. So for this spring, look out for billowy chiffons, oversized pockets, and intricate pleating. The origami trend is carrying over from fall as well, but this season it’s softer, less angular, and in lightweight silks…

Gwen Stefani kicked off her L.A.M.B. Spring 2008 Fashion Show in the Bryant Park tents, looking as glam as ever in a mod little shift dress and her signature red lipstick. Gwen’s own little lamb, baby Kingston made his runway debut last night as well, sporting a miniature L.A.M.B. top and oversized headphones to protect his little developing eardrums! The view of the front row was almost as exciting as the show itself, featuring the celebrity fashion elite, including Eve, Shirley Manson, P. Diddy, Carrie Underwood, Gavin Rossdale, and Sophia Bush. It was prep-school…

Trends come and go, but jeans will never die. You may not be able to afford that $3,494 silver tunic you’ve been eyeing, but chances are, it will be out of style in a season or two. Denim, on the other hand, is worth investing in. You may only wear that Alexander McQueen feather print dress once or twice, but the perfect fitting jeans can carry you for several years! So here are five denim delights I promise are worth plunking down high three…

Your face is glowing, people are ultra-friendly, you’ve got cleavage galore, and your husband has turned into the perfect man-servant, getting you ice cream at midnight and giving you foot massages… ah, to be pregnant! Except for the whole bad fashion, throwing up, outgrowing all you favorite clothes part of it. That’s where I can help. For morning sickness, try Preggie Pops. As for your style, maternity clothes have come a long way in recent years. Stars like Gwen Stefani, Katie Holmes, and Naomi Watts have all done the prego thing in style,…

One day, wide rules and skinny drools. The next, skinny runs circles around wide’s 30-inch leg openings. Denim is definitely at a crossroads. So who’s the Fall 2007 champ? For those of you whose bodies resemble Twiggy’s, stick with skinnies, at least for one more season. However, for the rest of us, the wide leg is THE look of the season. Wide-leg jeans are flattering on almost any figure because they elongate the body, making you look taller and more proportionate. You can dress up a dark wash pair for the office with a silk blouse…
