While a good part of the handbag craze is focused purely on form, it’s easy to forget that our totes actually have a purpose - a purpose beyond being fabulous, of course. Simply put, they hold our stuff, and without them, we’d actually have to use the pockets on our spring tops and dresses. Scary, right? Anyway, it goes without saying that what’s in your bag is pretty important, so check out Bagtrends’ picks for the top five in-your-bag essentials. They’re perfect for a little beauty pick-me-up, you know, so your shiny new bag doesn’t outshine you. Click on over to Bagtrends for the top five picks!

It can’t be easy being a mother. They work so hard to keep us unappreciative kids happy and rarely get the thanks and acknowledgment they deserve. As a result, we have Mother’s Day to force us all to stop for a minute and acknowledge how wonderful our mommies truly are. To combat the guilt we may experience over the fact that we haven’t always been golden children, we all get to use this day to redeem ourselves with the perfect gift. Check out my SLIDESHOW for some amazing gift ideas at a variety of price ranges, all guaranteed to warm your mom’s much-trampled heart.

Who needs seaweed, primrose oil, or different kind of fruits when you can have feces on your face! New York Magazine recently came out with an article introducing the “Geisha Facial” available at Shizuka New York, a high-end Japanese spa in New York. This special facial uses all natural ingredients in addition to the “uguisu no fun” (sterilized nightingale droppings), which back in the day, 18th century geishas and kabuki actors used to clean heavy white makeup off their faces. In the modern day, Shizuka’s poop apparently “makes the porcelain beauty of this Japanese icon accessible to the everyday person.” At $180 for a 50-minute treatment, all I gotta say is “Holy crap!”
We update our closets every season (okay, maybe some of us do that just a little more frequently), so why do we use the same beauty products, month after month? People StyleWatch has given us 30 reasons to try something new, so change up your routine with one of their picks! We’re especially curious about the luxury liquid soaps from Portuguese company Claus Porto and the watermelon-scented beach tint from Becca-- Rachel Bilson swears by it! Just click on over to People StyleWatch, browse through their beauty-filled slideshow, and let us know in COMMENTS which ones you’ll be trying!

Taking care of your skin is good thing. Taking care of the environment is a super good thing. So it’s safe to say taking care of your skin with products that are environmentally-conscious is a really, REALLY good thing! For an eco-friendly and efficient beauty regimen look no further than LaLicious Sugar Souffle Scrub, $22 and Body Oil, $11. The sugar soufflé exfoliates, conditions and moisturizes while the body oil penetrates the skin, locking in moisture without that greasy feeling smoothing the skin to perfection (I kid you not- I am fighting off the urge to pet my incredibly smooth skin as I write this!). I have been addicted to Lalicious since the first time I tried it, an addiction shared by other fans of the line including Jessica Alba, Halle Berry, Eva Mendes, and Kate Hudson to name a few!
Makeup artists can seriously be magicians sometimes. They just whip out their bag of tricks, throw a bunch of stuff together, and all of a sudden you look like the most fabulous version of yourself. Have you ever tried to follow them step by step? It’s almost impossible! Fortunately, I am now in the position where I get to meet the magicians themselves, and luckily for us, they’re nicer than the real magicians, and more than willing to share their secrets. If you’re anything like me, you suffer from a severe case of Time Management Disorder and live in a continual state of being approximately 15 minutes late for EVERYTHING. As a result, I often have to make sacrifices in the spirit of getting to where I need to go, the most common being makeup. There’s nothing worse than going out and feeling hideously self-conscious about your appearance, so until I can learn how to better budget my time, learning tricks of the trade that will get me looking presentable in under a minute is essential! The fountain of youth is even closer than before… and now, you don’t even have to leave your house in your quest. The hottest at-home skincare device is the Marvel Mini, by Ageless Beauty, and it harnesses the power of light to deliver results for a mild price tag in comparison to spa and dermatologist treatments. But the biggest question on everyone’s mind is… does it really work? Curiosity got the best of me. I wasn’t willing to withstand the pain or down-time of in-office treatments such as Titan or Thermage- and I didn’t really think that my skin was looking like it needed something THAT drastic, either. A little kick-start perhaps? Click READ MORE to hear about my Marvel Mini experience!
Winter is officially over, meaning you might want to abandon that super dark nail polish, unless it’s your signature look or you’re Ashlee Simpson – personally, we’re suckers for OPI’s “Lincoln Park After Dark.” But we’ve also really been liking Rihanna’s fluorescent nails at the Grammys and in her ad for H&M. (Catherine totally copied her by wearing neon pink polish yesterday.) When we were looking around for new nail polish colors, we came upon some great and some super boring pastel colors, which seem to be the look for Spring. Click SEE SLIDESHOW for a mix of the ones we like, along with some brighter orange, red, and pink hues.
Face creams and shoes have a lot in common - the cheap versions will never make you look or feel as fabulous as the real thing. While we all know the importance of quality, we can’t always dish out the dough it takes to get the crème-de-la-crème, which is why all you Stylehivers should get excited for this week’s giveaway. No, it’s not a pair of Louboutins, it’s the skin-care equivalent: Sothys Global Cure Serum, part of their advanced Secrets de Sothys line, which retails for a whopping $200! This exceptional treatment is chock full of carefully selected ingredients designed to reactivate the skin’s youth for skin that is smooth, firm, revitalized, and radiant. Interested? I though so! CONTEST RULES: Write 20 words in COMMENTS on how much your face will love you if you win this product! Good luck!
I already know what you’re thinking… blue eyeshadow is so seventies, right? Cheap, not chic? Well read on, because blue is here to stay and there is most definitely a blue eyeshadow, eyeliner or mascara for you!
This season, blue eye makeup was a staple on the runways, practically becoming the new black for many makeup artists, who often used deep indigo eyeliner in lieu of harsher blacks. The result? A softer, more mysterious appeal… which puts your eyes front and center without making them appear overdone. Models at Zac Posen, Tommy Hilfiger and Narisco Rodriguez all sported variations of this look and made it work magnificently with nude, matte red and rosebud pink lips. It’s rumored that wearing a blue eyeliner also makes tired and red eyes look brighter, whiter and more awake. Trust me… it’s true! Kate Hudson and Katie Holmes were recently spotted wearing this trend on their lower lash-lines.
