There are many people I know who decorate with a holiday theme immediately after Thanksgiving dinner and then there are people who don’t start until the last minute (aka the day before Christmas Eve). Either way, the tree is almost always the most important aspect of any Christmas decor. While some may argue the virtues over real versus faux trees, what good is it if it ends up totally naked? That’s why I’m here with ornaments of all shapes and sizes that will get your tree totally covered up. From collectible limited edition Swarovski crystals to the cutest cow ornament ever, there’s a whole world of ornaments out there. Add some DIY cranberry and popcorn garlands, tinsel, maybe some fake snow and you’re all set to wait for Santa to deliver his presents. Take a peek at my slideshow to see them all!
‘Tis the season for buying electric blankets, warm mittens and ice skates. But, it doesn’t have to be! Winter is also time for travel, and trip takers during the holiday season tend to flock toward hot spots — or anywhere where you don’t have to bundle up and face those chilling winter winds. If you’re heading out of town, (or just want to be prepared for the next swim season) strip down the fleece, wool and cashmere and warm up to some slinkier swimwear selections! 2010 collections are hotter than ever before, and you’re just one click away from packing your beach duffel for your winter getaway! Bandeaus, halters, string and strapless are all back, along with some more unconventional show-stoppers that’ll make you start drooling right onto your keyboard! This holiday, if you’re jetsetting to somewhere warm, bring along something to make everyone else on the beach drool too!

Maybe it’s because of their abundance of sheep, but the Scottish people sure love their patterned knits! I first featured houndstooth for the home and now it’s time to get cozy with fair isle. (Fun fact: Fair Isle is actually a tiny island found in the north of Scotland!). The term can refer to any knits that have stitches that are knit alternately in various colors. Whenever I see these knits pop up in stores and magazines, I know it’s time to dress warmly! By the way, this is an awesome alternative to the dreaded “Christmas sweater.” One of my favorites this season is the Fair Isle Snow Sweater from Free People, with a low neckline and cutout in the back. If you’re looking to accessorize with fair isle, then check out the super affordable Fair Isle Scarves. For more warm fair isle knits that are great for winter time, take a look at my slideshow!

If the holiday season is like a box of chocolates, and you really don’t know what you’re going to get, maybe you should consider adding this to your Christmas list! The Bare Escentuals Sweet Obsessions Set has just about the cutest packaging I’ve ever seen. Made to look like a designer box of chocolate truffles with nine shimmery loose eyeshadows tucked inside foil wrappers, the gift set looks good enough to gobble up… but lucky for your New Years’ eat-well regime, these treats are for your eyes only! The sparkly pigments even have delicious names, including Spiced Biscotti and Crème de Menthe, but despite the chocolate craving they might induce, they’re the perfect calorie-free cosmetic indulgence for the beauty lover on your list!
Price: $48

No need to adjust your screens, you read it right: champagne in a shoe. Once upon a time, in a far more chivalrous day and age, a man used to show his affection for a woman with more than a pick-up line and a martini from the bar. In nineteenth century Europe, gentlemen used to celebrate the performance of an exquisite ballerina and pursue their favorite courtesan by taking the ultimate plunge, performing the “tournee des grands Ducs”—the act of drinking champagne from her shoe. In our modern times, when most relationships begin through a series of text messages, two idealists joined forces to create the rebirth of the genteel spirit that once was. The “Le Rituel” box set is the essence of class and style, with the utmost of quality from sip to sole. The drink is manufactured by Piper-Heidsick, who has been in the business of making quality champagne since 1785. Christian Louboutin, whose red sole has become symbolic of luxury and desire, worked his magic to create the couture glass stiletto fit for any Cinderella. Unfortunately, attaining recounted elegance doesn’t come easy or cheap. Retailing at $500, “Le Rituel” is sold exclusively at select Neiman Marcus retailers and online at www.le-rituel.com and www.wine.com in extremely low quantities, so act now before the clock strikes midnight. Don’t forget to visit WhatsWear for more of their favorite “it” things!
Tis the season to be jolly! Friends, family, shopping, parties, gift-giving, delicious foods; all these bring joy and laughter… and sometimes tears and nervous breakdowns. While this time of year is full of merriment, sometimes the more the merrier is in fact the more the scarier. Besides all the festivities and fun times going on, this season is also known to be one of the most stressful. While some signs handle the holidays a little better than others (like stubborn Taurus vs. laid-back Libra), we’re all going to be a little stressed in the coming couple of months. A quick consultation with the constellations help see what stresses may befall us and let us know what pampering spa product would be best suited to help us relax and rejuvenate! So don’t be caught being a Scrooge this holiday season and check out the slideshow to see what the stars have to say about finding the perfect spa product to help you de-stress!

A couple of spritzes of fragrance is the final polishing touch of an outfit. It’s like the cherry on top of a sundae, or the chocolate drizzle on your mocha latte. An already chic ensemble only gets better with the right perfume. It’s what lingers on peoples minds after you’ve already left a room, and just a whiff of a signature scent can evoke memories. With all the different scents available for us to choose from, how does one locate their own “perfect scent?” Many times, a perfume will smell incredible inside a magazine or as a sample, or on someone else. Don’t be too hasty to run to the department store to snatch up a bottle for yourself just yet, though! Our natural oils and body temperatures make the same scent smell different from person to person, warm weather or cool. The only way, really, is to sample a spray on your wrists, and then smell it again after half an hour or so to see if the perfume meshes well with you. One way to cut down on having to try hundreds and hundreds of different scents is to choose one that it appropriate for the weather outside. While your favorite summer scent of sweet pea and cucumber still smells delicious, it may be a little too light and crisp for the lower temperatures that are now here. Find a scent that is a little more saturated and heavy and look for ingredients that make sense for the winter. So while the daisies and citrus scents may need a break, it’s a great time for vanilla and roses. Click on the slideshow to see some favorite winter scents and fragrance sets to choose from for yourself or find a classic as a gift!
Last month we introduced you to PH8, the sporty-chic new line from Bebe. A few of the many reasons I’m loving the line: each look is equally cute whether it’s paired with sneakers or stilettos, and it’s not as widely available as other brands, meaning the chances of running into someone else rocking your PH8 gear isn’t too much of an issue. Since you may not live near a PH8 store and it’s not sold online, we thought we’d bring PH8 to you! We’re giving away 8 funnel neck zip dresses in grey. The possibilities with this piece are endless-- you can wear it alone as a dress, layer a funky printed tee underneath, rock it unzipped as a jacket, or belt it for a sexy silhouette. It retails for $89 - a steal for something with so much favorite closet item potential - but why buy one when you can win one for free? Read on to find out how to enter!
Screw the body lotions and Christmas socks — I want some real toys. Nothing excites me more than looking through the ads in the morning paper at what new electronics I can add to my Christmas list. I may never receive any of those wonderful technie wonders, but it’s always cool to see what the new year is able to offer. Like the GPS navigation systems and digital photo frames of years past, this year brings tiny netbooks and print to digital photo scanners to the top of everyone’s must-have radar. Hopefully Santa thinks you’ve been good this year, because with gadgets this cool, no manicure or votive set would make you happy after seeing these impressive devices. Click on my slideshow to indulge in these geeky pleasures!
By now you might be starting to get sick of seeing studs on just about everything: blazers, bracelets, even last week’s shoe of the week… but somehow, this Treesje Jovi bag seems to have the unique ability to breathe new life to the embellishment. Then again, I think any trend could look way less redundant when it’s part of a bright green bag! Aside from the vibrant color (which would be a great refresher to my otherwise muted winter wardrobe), I love the fact that it’s convertible—wear it as a cross body when you need your hands to carry all those shopping bags, or snap off the strap and you’ve got yourself a rocker-chic clutch. It may not match everything, but it doesn’t hurt to indulge in a healthy pop of color every now and then!
What: the Treesje Jovi Cross Body in Turquoise
Price: $363

Though we would be extremely excited about Paul McCartney and Morrissey teaming up, we’re still pretty psyched Stella McCartney and Morrissey are teaming up. Especially since they’re teaming up for shoes! Both Stella McCartney and Morrissey are vegetarians, and they’re about to create a line of shoes together that proves their love for animals. They’re in the early stages of a leather-free range of footwear. According to Stella, “I’m working with Morrissey on a line of leather-free shoes which I’m really excited about. We are still in the early stages, but the shoes could be launched next year.” We never really placed Morrissey as a shoe designer, but we think that’s pretty awesome. And we have a feeling the shoes will sell really well because there’s a huge population of people who don’t want leather on their shoes. Not to mention, we’re sure there are tons of Morrissey fans who would love a pair of his shoes. Check out our friends at LimeLife to read more!
I don’t want to brag or anything, but I probably have one of the coolest weekend jobs out there (well, as cool as working on weekends can get!). I work at my friend’s paper goods boutique where I sell unique greeting cards, journals, planners, and calendars by independent and local designers. So I’m always on the lookout for what’s new in the world of paper when I’m not obsessing over fashion. Leave it to Kate Spade, aka Jane-of-all-trades, to create a holiday card set that I immediately want to send to all my friends and family members. Kate Spade read my mind because hope, peace, and warm cookies are probably my favorite aspects of the holidays. Then again, it probably applies for Santa Claus too! So if you’ve been looking for a non-cheesy Hallmark card alternative for the holidays, this is it.
Price: $35 for a set of 10 cards and envelopes

Don’t let a fall downpour rain all over your style. Instead, slip into this season’s top topper: the gray trench. A chicer alternative to the khaki raincoat (too preppy) or the bright yellow slicker (too Dick Tracy), this one by Bamford will transition easily from day to evening. Wear it belted over a pair of wide-leg trousers to the office or throw it over a silk party dress for a night out. If $2,800 is a little over budget (a pretty safe bet, unless your name happens to be Oprah), you can pick up this lower-priced version by Mike & Chris. All the details (snazzy wide collar, waist-cinching belt and fold-over button cuffs) are there. In fact, the only thing that’s really missing is the price—this trench is only $198! For more winter looks for less, visit our friends at LemonDrop!
