Hot Trend: Lace-Like Furniture and Home Accessories, Durable Yet Delicate Decor

Ah! Lace! That delicate, open-weave fabric, with it’s complicated, flowery construction! It is an ancient fiber that often conjures up images of femininity, fineness, and often, fragility, in many a mind. Quite recently, Stylehivers have been adding a large number of furniture and home accessory bookmarks by lace-loving contemporary furniture and home accent designers including Simas Terri Pecora, Marcel Wanders, Patricia Urquiola, Ilaria Marelli and Diana Eugeni Lucciolo. Artists such as these have been adding delicate-looking lace motifs to a variety of hard surfaces, such as bathroom sink basins, occasional chairs, side tables, and even drink coasters! These contemporary, lace-inspired products utilize modern, extremely durable materials and textures, such as rubber, acrylic plastic, or galvanized steel and turning the notion of something lace-like being delicate or fragile completely on it’s flowery little head.

Yes, this is a great comeback of the beautiful hand-crafted works of our grandmothers, but we should not miss one of the first designers who began using the lace theme - Tord Boontje. Most of his designs feature lace motives in one way or another.
I think that this trends makes contemporary design much softer and feminine.

I’ve visited a Furniture Store last week and I was so impressed with the lace models they had in store. There was this one chair, similar with the one in the image, crafted manually by a single person in one year. I don’t wanna tell you the price of it.

we’re getting back to the classic style as the firs comm says we’re back to the grandma’s work. I love it ! But before buying this accessories you have to contact your plumbing contractors to insure you won’t have problems and deteriorate them.
