The Cynthia Steffe fall/winter ’08 collection was sophisticated and polished with a fun, whimsical, eccentric flare. Titled “Supernature” this collection drew upon the capricious, versatile and unexpected aspects of the natural world. From seasonless fabrics that were both textured and lightweight, to the earth-inspired color palette comprised of desert neutrals, grassy hues, and rich jewel tones. There were also a variety of cuts- jackets were sculpted and narrow as well as inflated and voluminous, dresses ranged from soft and flowy to structured and architectural, pant-shapes could be super-slim and cigarette shaped or loose and slouchy.

The accessories were essential - booties, arm and leg warmers, hats, and scarves all in bold colors served to heighten the collection’s fun and free-spirited vibe. Designer Waleed Khairzada, who took over after Cynthia stepped down in 2006, maintained the signature ultra-femme Cynthia Steffe essence, but explored new territories, as noted in the program: “Dressing for a flight of imagination that reflects the fantasies and realities of the Cynthia Steffe Girl.”
