It’s safe to say that spring is definitely in the air! It’s also in our closets, all over our favorite tops, and now it’s moved on in to today’s top 10 finds! So soak up the striped tops and hats that take casual chic to a whole new level, and check out the jackets that will make those breezy spring days even lovelier. And when you’re ready to bring it inside, we’ve got a few lamps and a shelf that’ll bring a little spring to your room. But if we had to choose, our favorite pick is the orange chain handbag by Josep Font. Take a look at my SLIDESHOW to see why we’re craving it - and all of the other spring stuff - so much.
The layered look is a godsend for ladies like myself and Lindsay Lohan with long thin legs and thick, undefined waists. Sure, there are plenty of tips and tricks to create the illusion of a defined waist- some of which we’ve already covered, and more which we will be covering- but sometimes, notably on days when your mid-section is especially pronounced, the best solution for looking and feeling great is to layer it up. Lindsay is the master of the layers and manages to keep the look chic and sexy by not going too layer-happy and carefully selecting items that will complement her figure. Read on for tips on how to rock the look like La Lohan.
To combat the overwhelmingly dark and somber tone that marked the fall/winter ’08 collections, a lot of our favorite designers added unexpected, playful elements to spruce up their collections. I mean, where’s the fun in fashion without a few risks and surprises? Some designers threw shades of shimmery gold into the mix for added glitz and glamor, others played with plush purples and other rich jewel tones, most went wild with accessories, and a few took risks by playing with pops of brightly colored legs, by far the most fun and funky way to add a much needed spark.
The overarching feel of the fall/winter 2008 collections was sleek sophistication mixed with high-impact glamour, mostly due to the fact that almost every designer had a serious case of accessory-fever. Almost all the looks in the shows were paired with either hats (from beret’s, to brim hats, to knits, to fedoras, to small hats, to big hats, and so much more), fancy hair pieces, fur boleros, layered necklaces, long leather gloves, and/or belts (either super-thick or super-thin but always super sleek- either individually, several at a time, or all piled on in a single look).
Come fall 2008, all the Teletubbies are gonna be envying Tinky Winky‘s style. I’m not sure if the credit should go to the Tinks or everyone’s favorite dinosaur Barney, but purple was EVERYWHERE this past New York Fashion Week, and will be the shade to crave when fall hits. From electric purple, to pale purple, to plum, to violet, and every shade in between, this snazzy hue is the one thing preventing us all from classifying the fall ‘08 runway collections and bleak, drab, and dreary.
It doesn’t matter how many designer dresses you own, or how stocked your closet is, if you don’t know how to dress for your body, you will just not look your best. Once upon a time I was a “wishful thinking” shopper, that girl in the next dressing room providing a compelling argument to anyone within earshot justifying my purchases. I sang the same tune sung my many, many women before, the one that goes something like: “While these pants might be too tight, they’ll look great once I lose a couple of pounds” or “I have to have this dress, even though it kind of looks ridiculous on me, because it’s just soo trendy right now.” Or my personal favorite: “This dress doesn’t look good on me, and I can’t breathe, but it’s a size 2, so I mean I have to buy it.” Wanna know what happened to all those items?
