Five weeks into my total body transformation at the hands of High Performance gym in New York City, I have been paid the ultimate compliment. My wife, my friends, my co-workers, my mailman, my deli guy, my neighbors, my plant-waterer, my college roommate, Uma Thurman’s stalker, Tyra Banks‘ publicist, my tennis partner, my Subway sandwich artist, my priest, and my fish cleaner have all remarked on my new svelte shape. Which is nice. But when, just last night, my mom, who I haven’t seen since I started my regimen, told me I looked half my size, I knew all the hard work had been worth it. Thanks ma! I have a love-hate relationship with e-mail. While the convenience and real-time factor can’t be beat, it introduces all sorts of issues. Why did he email and not call? This year’s Teen Choice Awards was a fun-filled event replete with lots of laughs and of course, a myriad of stellar styles from young Hollywood’s brightest stars. One of the night’s most memorable looks belonged to singer Fergie, who looked vibrant, edgy, and absolutely haute-hippilicious in a flaming fuchsia and red long flowing Etro dress worn with colorful bracelets, an edgy belt, and a long loose boho-braid. I’m sure you guys have heard about YogaToes, and if you’re like me, you’ve probably been wondering “what the…..?” I’ve had this strange fascination with them where they make me simultaneously scared and curious, wondering what are these strange jelly-like contraptions that look like they should be used for a pedicure? So I ordered myself a pair to see what they were all about. The idea is that it’s like exercise for your toes so you prevent situations like hammertoes and bunions. No, I don’t have either, but I do find myself in stiletto heels more often than not and thought a little exercise for my footsies couldn’t hurt. The verdict: they are fabulous! I can’t tell you how many times I’ve heard friends say they won’t try self-tanning because they’re scared of streaking or turning orange. But what they don’t realize is that self-tanning products have come light years since the days of Tang-tinged skin and tiger stripes. Once upon a time, I was the most boring person EVER when it came to my nails. I’d go in for a manicure and breeze past the polish selection opting for the same hues every time- anything white, or maybe, if I was feeling particularly adventurous, a soft pink.
