Years ago, you could count on Gap for classic cuts, khakis, and oh, those commercials. Today’s Gap maintains the same cool, clean attitude, with a bit of edge and exclusivity thanks to their Design Editions and CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund collections. Now the retailer has yet another venture under its classic leather belt--- a line of limited edition t-shirts designed by Gap in close collaboration with the Whitney Museum of American Art and in celebration of the Whitney’s 2008 Biennial. The Artist Edition T-Shirt Collection will feature designs from 13 of today’s most celebrated contemporary artists, including Chuck Close, Jeff Koons, Barbara Kruger, Hanna Liden, and Sarah Sze. The collection hits stores and gap.com TODAY, so be sure to scoop them up while you can! Click SEE SLIDESHOW and see what the fuss is all about.
Balloon animals and cartoon characters are fun childhood memories for most, but for artist Jeff Koons, they are monuments! The Pennsylvania-born painter and sculptor’s larger than life sculptures are kitsch writ large. Koons’ latest show, “Jeff Koons on the Roof” at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in NYC, which opened last week, is this year’s must-see exhibit in the Big Apple, and his public sculptures are permanent fixtures at the Guggenheim Bilbao in Spain and Papal Palace in Avignon, France.
