I know they’re terribly girly, but I just love me some flowers. I especially love just stepping out in the garden and getting some huge rangey rose and plopping it in a vase. Roses aren’t my favorite, I’m more of a gerbera girl – but you can’t argue with roses from your own garden. These independent designers have worked with a floral theme ranging from the vintage looking letterpress coasters of Sarah Parrot, bold modern blooms of Taïr Mercier and abstracted jewelry of Selina Campbell. Each captures that summer spirit, and well, they’re just gosh darn fabulous! Click on the SLIDESHOW to see more flowers!
On a trip to Paris this spring, I became obsessed with Lou Doillon, daughter of Jane Birkin. Her influence is everywhere: bohemian with a slightly tough, rock-n-roll edge, but also a touch of luxury. It is all so impossibly chic the way these women zip around Paris on their motorbikes, clad in leather jackets or leather pants and layers of scarves and jewelry. The key to this look is the right balance: keeping delicate or frilly things toned down with something a little edgy (a flowy, silky dress with a motorcycle jacket) and vice versa (a strand of pearls or rhinestones with a flannel shirt and trousers). Mlle Doillon is also the master at making menswear incredibly feminine and sexy. And last but not least ... don’t dare brush your hair! Click SEE SLIDESHOW for more examples!

Big things come in small packages - an adage that can surely be applied to the Olsens. The tiny twins, who were at one time known for their oh-so collectible TV movies (The Adventures of Mary-Kate and Ashley, anyone?) have really made a name for themselves with their two upscale collections, The Row and Elizabeth and James, and now WWD is reporting a jewelry line is in the works. Apparently they’ve signed on to work with CFDA award-winning designer and sculptor Robert Lee Morris to create a line of expectedly edgy pieces, to be sold under the E&J label. Looks like achieving Mary-Kate’s piled-on look will soon be easier than ever, and we’re excited to see what else they have in store. Want more on the latest from the diminutive duo? Ever since Frankie said “Relax,” on his infamous t-shirt, I have tried to live a life devoted to fulfilling the prophecy of slogans. And I guess I’m not the only one! I just love the way indie designers have taken words, mixed in bold, modern design, and added twist of humor. You’ll love the charmingly naughty necklaces by Trashy Deluxe, the simply delightful work of Paloma’s Nest, and, for something very tweenish, the rockstar bracelet from Insane Jellyfish. Click SEE SLIDESHOW for 13 great slogan-inspired accessories for all texty tastes.
A few months ago we introduced you to the term ‘Garage Glam,’ the hottest new underground trend, and got up close and personal with the fabulous diva that started it all- Semi Precious Weapons front-man Justin Tranter. In a short year and a half, Justin has racked up quite an impressive list of accomplishments. In addition to captivating fans from all walks of life with his sexually-charged onstage antics and unmatched sound, Justin collaborated with DKNY on an exclusive sneaker, found massive success in the jewelry market with a company that now includes 3 different collections- Precious Weapons (low-end), Fame (Mid-priced), and Fetty (high-end), and has been making national headlines thanks to a little lady named Kate Moss who can’t get enough of the SPW sound and style. Cannes Film Festival Jury Member and museworthy style icon Natalie Portman could roll out of bed still be the most striking girl in a hundred mile radius. When she gets decked out in designer gowns and gorgeous diamonds, well she transforms into pure perfection! At the jury photo call for the 61st Annual Cannes Film Festival, Natalie dazzled in three layered Tiffany & Co. Diamond necklaces - the Diamond Flower Link Necklace ($47,500), Diamond Cobblestone Pendant ($7,800), and Circlet Diamond Pendant ($2,275). And that was just the tip of the iceberg. (Get it? So clever am I!) I couldn’t resist tracking down her pieces, and similar styles for the ones that were untrackable. Click READ MORE to get her Cannes look.

What started out as a whim turned into a career for jewelry designer Michele Scholnick. While in graduate school, Michele took some art classes for fun and within a mere two weeks, she was hooked. As a child, Michele’s mother would use bare branches on the way to school to explain the concept of negative space. And now, Michele’s branches have been seen in Life and Style, WWD, In Style, and Lucky. Last week, we premiered our Next Big Thing feature with Paola Hernandez, and today we’re excited to have Michelle as our next, Next Big Thing. “I’m really flattered! And a bit relieved,” Michelle tells Stylehive. “I still have days where I wonder if anyone other than my mother is going to like my work!” Click READ MORE for our interview with Michele, and SEE SLIDESHOW for her modern, organic pieces.

So many trends, so little time… but who says you have to choose? Today’s top ten picks are a bit boho, a little earthy, a touch glam, and as always, entirely chic. Take your pick from the newest styles from Free People, high-stylin’ looks from Ray-Ban and Gaspard Yurkievich (including a super-hot pair of gladiators that fired up the runways), and a necklace made of beach stones that’s too beautiful to miss! An explosion of color is rocking the hive, and we can’t stop shaking with excitement over just how bright things are this spring! From a beautifully printed Missoni bikini to an ultra fun American Eagle colorblock skirt, it’s easy to see why we can’t pick just one shade, though we’ve thrown in a few monochromes as well. Also look out for the quirky and colorful ‘biscotti’ bag by Defunct baggage-- is it better for you than a Fendi baguette? Your wallet might think so! Kermit the Frog once sang it ain’t easy being Green. While this may have been true in the 70s, these days, going green has become incredibly glamorous! Case in point: Cheeky Monkey Jewelry, a line created from 100% reclaimed gold, silver and fair-trade gems (translation: they’re pre-screened to ensure that they uphold fair trade standards and offer equitable return to the communities that mine them). The collections will keep you looking chic with a dose of environmental consciousness. Click READ MORE for my (and my favorite celebs’) favorite pieces from the line!
Jody McGill’s filigree jewelry has been turning the heads of celebs (like Leelee Sobieski here) of late. As an independent designer, she sells under her 1ofmykind brand. She uses antique Czech glass and bronze detailing in many of the pieces for a distinctive look. If your budget isn’t ready for Hollywood, she has some pieces in her line that are priced for budget-conscious divas too! Check out her new Lulu Steampunk Vintage Corset Earrings or the Aquamarine Cocktail Ring. Jody recently spent a few minutes telling us about her work, so click SEE SLIDESHOW to check out these seven divine pieces and READ MORE to meet the artist behind them!
There’s just something about putting on a piece of jewelry that isn’t your everyday necklace or ring that’s a little bit extraordinary. Statement jewelry comes to mind, but truthfully, many of those pieces are made for runways and red carpets and are just too out there for day to day wear. So what is there to do when you want to make a statement but you don’t want to feel like your jewelry is actually wearing you? Fabric jewelry with unexpected ribbons and materials carries the same effect as the chunkier types, but it won’t weigh you down or take away from that effortless look you’re aiming to capture. We love MARNI’s collection but there are more affordable ones out there as well! Keep your other jewelry to a minimum when you wear these - simple studs will do. Click SEE THE SLIDESHOW for more!

There are two things you’re never fully dressed without: a smile, and accessories! I am always amazed by the power of accessories and how they can so radically transform a look. Adding accessories can take your look from day to night, make a boring look a bold one, turn a safe look into a statement-making one, and so on. Last season’s soft, subdued accessories made of thin strands and clear jewels have given way to bolder, statement-making ones made of heavier materials like metal and stone for chunky, eye-catching, artful pieces. Accessorizing differentiates your style from the masses, so the items you choose should have a unique quality, which is why I’m loving pretty much everything from the Nashelle Jewelry line. Click READ MORE to find out why!
When you think of “romantic” jewelry, Tiffany & Co. heart necklaces, traditional tennis bracelets, and diamond engagement rings might come to mind. But if things aren’t that serious yet with your man, if traditional jewelry isn’t really your style, or, hell, if you’d rather get yourself some sweet bling, there are plenty of independent designers creating baubles that express the feeling of love in somewhat innovative ways – diamonds, pearls, and platinum are hardly necessary. After all, nothing says, “I love you” like a sterling silver human heart pierced with a dagger.
Today’s picks are all about mixing it up-- chunky jewelry paired with a fluttery feminine frock sends a sweet but strong message, while the opposite- delicate jewels with bolder pieces-- is subtle and sophisticated. Have fun mixing and matching the accessories we’ve selected for you today, some of which include a super hot pair of Chloé heels, organic jewelry, and the most stylish way to have the latest from Temperley at your fingertips. They’re all in our slideshow of today’s top ten hive finds, where we’ll tell you how much they cost and where you can buy them online!

Friday’s top ten finds have a bit of floral inspiration, but we’re not talking about the spring brights that you’ve come to expect. A black floral motif on a white background is crisp and detailed, even a bit romantic, so check out the saves that have us craving some of the trend. You knew Marc Jacobs is one of the hottest designers on the block, so see how he masters the color block by checking out his new bag, also in today’s picks. In a mere year and half, Justin Tranter, front man for the Garage Glam band Semi Precious Weapons, has achieved an amazing degree of success. Not only are his two jewelry lines both incredibly popular, they got the seal of approval from one of the world’s fashion icons - Kate Moss - who picked up four necklaces at a recent concert. By now you know all about the style that defines the Semi Precious Weapons (if not, just scroll down for links to my first two interviews). Today we’re going to be delving into his jewelry lines. And don’t forget to check out our slideshow of his designs - including the four necklaces Kate Moss picked up!
When it comes to V-day gifts for guys, women tend to go the more traditional route: gadgets, clothing, courtside seats to the Lakers. We tend to avoid the jewelry department like the plague ("too girly”, you say), but did you ever think that your man may actually enjoythe gift of bling? Here are a couple reasons why: Jewelry is timeless and maintains it’s appearance and value for years (assuming he doesn’t mess is up, or worse - lose it!). It also holds a strong sentimental value that no tie or iPod can match. It’s just a matter of finding pieces that are edgy and masculine enough - think chunky, sleek lines, or with rugged details. Check out the slideshow of 10 great jewelry ideas that your man is bound to adore. Nope, nothing girly here (I promise!)
Roses. Check. Chocolates. Check. Fancy dinner. Check please. So what are you missing? How about a shiny new necklace or blingin’ ring? There’s no doubt about it, whether it be diamonds, pearls, gold, platinum, or everything in between - jewelry is the no-fail way to win your sweetie over on Valentine’s Day. That is, assuming you don’t pick something fugly. I’ve searched high and low for the prettiest jewels and baubles on the web, in a variety of finishes designs, and price ranges. So check out my slideshow and get a little V-day gift giving inspiration!
Glam rocks are back, and if you think we’re refering to the music craze, think again, because it’ll be difficult to turn down the volume that these blingin’ baubles are bringing. Whether you’re into hard rocks or slow jam gems, the necklaces that you’re about to see will give any outfit the pop it needs. Sure, they look heavy, but trust us when we say they’re worth their weight in gold, silver, agate, diamond, emerald, and pretty much anything else you can think of. So naturally, next time you want to send a big message with next to no effort, throw on one from our slideshow of statement piece picks. Any of them are guaranteed to be a top hit at your next event, and we think it goes without saying that you’re sure to have these pretty little things on your playlist for years to come.

With all of the hoopla surrounding Christmas and New Year’s, it’s easy to forget that there’s actually a week separating the two, meaning there’s a week of outfits that sort of get pushed to the side because there’s no occasion behind them. And while we’d all love to live in our party dresses for longer than one night at a time, that just wouldn’t be fair to the rest of our wardrobes, so sprinkle a little festive fun on the week in between by adding some sparkly makeup and accessories to your casual outfits! They’re the easiest way to liven up dressing down, and will surely make the transition when party time rolls around. Oh, and because we just couldn’t resist…
This year, the most coveted gift isn’t an “it” bag, can’t be found at Saks, is rare in certain areas, and many are dying for a piece of it. But if you look around, you’ll find that it’s not as elusive as you may think. Still stumped? It’s peace. And while it’s quite an abstract idea for a gift, there are so many ways to give it, and it looks good on everyone, whether they’ve got the seventies hippie/boho bug or are just an anything but average activist trying to make a difference. It just takes a little thought, some consideration, and a look through our slideshow of ways to add some peace to the lives of your friends and family, and maybe even to people all over the world. Happy holidays from Stylehive!

Here’s the deal. You’ve been modeling potential New Year’s party outfits in front of your mirror for days now, and as much as you’d like to admit you look good, you know something’s missing. It’s not the clothes, or the bag, or the shoes- it’s the accessories. After all, anyone can copy an outfit out of Vogue, but it’s the next step - making it your own - that separates style slaves from style stars. So rock your NYE getup by flipping through our slideshow of fashion-forward accessories that scream “I am me, not that girl in the magazine!”, and leave your slavish following back in 2007!
Stylehive was backstage at this year’s Jingle Ball concert in New York City, hanging with the show’s performers Avril Lavigne, Fall Out Boy, Alicia Keys, The Jonas Brothers, Jordin Sparks, and The Backstreet Boys, as well as celebs including Hayden Panettiere, Ashley Tisdale, and my future husband, Gossip Girl‘s Chace Crawford . But more importantly, we witnessed firsthand the most important perks of being a celebrity: namely, free style and tech products!

We are here to help you find that middle ground: amazing, one-of-a-kind gifts that don’t break the bank, but just may be the best presents you give.
