Catch Stella McCartney And Ed Ruscha Tonight On ICONOCLASTS

Ever wonder what really makes organically manufactured apparel so different from ordinary clothing, other than the prices? We could tell you, but instead we're going to let one of our favorite designers and proponents of the use of organic materials, Stella McCartney, do the talking. In the clip you're about to see from the Sundance Channel's new show "Iconoclasts," the designer teams up with internationally renowned artist Ed Ruscha to discuss the philosophy behind her environmentally friendly designs. For more on the series and other McCartney/Ruscha clips, including a conversation highlighting the differences between being an artist and a fashion designer, go here. Green Style: 10 Eco-Chic Beach Essentials

As you soak up the rays during another glorious beach day, why not do your part for the planet to ensure the beach can be enjoyed by generations of ocean lovers in the years ahead? From your beach bag to your sandals to your cover-up, you can easily and stylishly greenify every single part of your beach experience. Look for beach totes, towels, cover-ups, and bikinis made with organic cotton (about 25% of the world's pesticides come from non-organic cotton farms) or recycled materials like these prepster-chic Ella Vickers bags made with recycled sails. Save your skin and your body, as well as the planet, with mineral sunscreen (as opposed to chemical sunscreen which is thought to be less effective and interfere with hormones). And don't forget to bring a reusable water bottle! Those disposable plastic bottles wreak havoc on the environment - and that's something no true beach bunny could condone!

Eco Style: Beat the Heat in These Sexy Earth-Friendly Bikinis!

When it comes to shopping, I'm not usually a creature of habit -- I tend to shop when and where the mood strikes. I do, however, have three annual fashion traditions: I always buy something new to wear on my birthday and New Year's Eve (something about turning over a new leaf, I suppose), and I always buy a new bikini in the summer. This year, in the spirit of saving the world while perfecting my tan, I'm stoked to see there are lots of "green" bikinis on the market. Bikini designers are using eco-friendly materials like organic cotton, bamboo, soy, and even factory surplus materials from a factory that made Olympic speed skater outfits! I'm glad to see someone's thinking about responsible beach fun, complete with cute side-ties and ruffles! Check out my SLIDESHOW of 6 eco-friendly bikinis and hit the beach in savvy style...

Summer Style: 10 Beauty Picks For Hot Days and Hotter Nights

When summer starts to heat up (like now!), your usual makeup routine might melt down. Just like you switch up your winter sweaters for lighter duds, your beauty routine needs a summer makeover as well. Start by shelving your heavy creams in favor of lighter moisturizers with SPF. Sheer tinted moisturizer or mineral make up is a great substitute for cakey foundation. Summer is also a great time to experiment with brighter and bolder colors. A juicy lip stain is perfect for a day at the beach since it won't feather or fade, and tropical colored eye shadows are great for a hot and steamy night on the town. Click through my SLIDESHOW for more hot weather make up tips!

Next Big Thing: Bodkin Redefines Eco-Chic

What do you get when you combine two friends, an eye for impeccable design, a stint as a fashion features editor at Nylon, and a background on sustainability? Bodkin. Designer Samantha Pleet and writer Eviana Hartman brought their vast interests together seamlessly for the fashion-forward, Brooklyn-based collection, but as Hartman says, it is the whole process - sourcing the materials and knowing where they come from - that defines them as a socially conscious label. And while they're both passionate about this cause, they try not to let it overwhelm their design philosophy. Pleet's signature fairytale-esque style adds a bit of lighthearted flair to the sleek, streamlined collection, giving it a playfulness many other sustainability-focused labels lack. The color palette is limited to black and cream, but this lends a level of sophistication also missing from most eco-friendly fashion. Click my SLIDESHOW to see what Bodkin's all about!
