Harem Pants: Love 'Em Or Lose 'Em?

Harem pants, dropped crotch pants, hammer pants-- whatever you want to call them, they've all been popping up on the runways for the past couple of seasons. YSL showed them for Fall '08 and dozens of designers including Proenza Schouler and PHI showed them for Spring '09. It seems like the silhouette in fashion is finally changing-- baggy boyfriend jeans are now okay for the fashion-forward girl, so why shouldn't enormous comfy pants be? They're a great alternative to those skintight jeans you've been stuffing yourself into, especially post holiday! You can rock a one piece like Mrs. Tom Cruise or pair them with a sleek little jacket and some heels and you're good to go, right? What do you think? Totally rad and fashion-forward, or do these need to be left in the early 90s with MC Hammer?

It's hard to watch a Bond movie without noticing his leading ladies. Most often remembered for their sex-kitten style as they are for their outrageous names, they've become icons of film and fashion history. Whether they're in a high-speed car chase or seducing 007, they always have the right outfit for every occasion. From Honey Ryder's infamous bikini in Dr. No to Vesper Lynd's gown in Casino Royale, these girls know how to capture a man's attention. After seeing the newest Bond flick, Quantum of Solace, I have some major Bond girl envy. I mean who wouldn't? These girls are kicking butt and looking good doing it. Each Bond girl has her own style, but overall all of them look sleek and sexy. Check out the slideshow for a few Bond girl basics to amp up the sex appeal in your closet.

Elle's Fall A To Zee Trends: The New Pant

Move over skinny and slim-cut, wide leg trousers are coming through! Rework your wardrobe this fall, because, believe it or not, there's a backlash against those skinny and slim-cut silhouettes that have been walking the runways and streets for the past few years. And it's not just me noticing this resurgence--Elle Creative Director Joe Zee includes this fall fashion must-have in Elle's Fall A To Zee Trends, hailing this style as the 'New Pant.' Stealing the hearts of designers and fashionistas alike, these pairs have full silhouettes and slouchy looks that exude smart style, and if fashion were a religion--which often times it seems to be--you could say that I'm a convert. And If you're feeling especially preppy or playful, choose a pair of pants packed with pleats like these ADAM pleated wide leg pants or these Alexander Wang pleated baggy pants. Now, I know many of you are questioning how flattering can these pants actually be, or how you can wear the slouchy look with out becoming a slouch yourself, but rest assured--with these designer duds straight from the Hive, you'll be the wearing the pants- they won't be wearing you! Go to Elle's A To Zee Trends to see Joe Zee's pick, and take a peek at my favorite trousers from the Hive in my SLIDESHOW!

Join the Harem With These Trendy Trousers!

Of all the new trends introduced by designers at last month's New York Fashion Week, the Aladdin-style harem pants are definitely getting the most fashion buzz. Although critics appear to either embrace or totally hate this trend, there's no denying that the harem pant fits in perfectly with the exotic luxury feel of many of the Spring and Resort 2009 collections. I loved the unique ways designers styled these unusual trousers. Like Elie Tahari's short and flirty style harem pant complete with ankle-ties, Proenza Schouler's stunning high-waisted and all-black take on the trend, and Phi's tie-waist jodhpur-style harem pants. And for daring fashionistas already eager to get into a pair of these trendy pants, you're in luck! There are a growing number of harem-style pants available in the Hive right now. Don't believe me? Well then check out my SLIDESHOW to see five of my favorite harem pants straight from the Hive.
