Hermes on the Auction Block- Going, Going, Gone!

I've often joked that I'll know when I've met my soulmate because he'll propose with a vintage Birkin bag and not a diamond engagement ring. And if, like moi, you love all things Hermes, then you'll thoroughly enjoy the madcap adventures of Michael Tonello in his memoir Bringing Home the Birkin: My Life in Hot Pursuit of the World's Most Coveted Handbag. Then, when you're salivating for something Hermes to call your own, hustle on over to Artcurial's live eBay auction. Known as the foremost auction house in Paris, Artcurial now has hundreds of Hermes goodies on the auction block that will make any fashionista squeal with delight. But hurry up and place your absentee bid, because the hammer falls on November 7! Click on the slideshow to see my favorites.

With 6,118 rooms and an indoor theme park, the First World Hotel is the world's largest hotel and it definitely lives up to that title- it's packed with all the amenities and amusements your heart could desire. A tropical rainforest greets you at the main entrance, ushering you into a Spanish courtyard lobby and then eventually up to your deluxe room. But of course you won't stay long in your room with an indoor theme park, shopping centre, cineplex, 28-lane bowling alley, and casino just under your feet. Venture down to the indoor theme park to ride a hang-gliding roller coaster, or climb up the towering X-pedition Wall, and then wander in SnowWorld--a winter wonderland with the temperature at minus 5 degrees Celsius and a toboggan slide to boot. The theme park also features a simulated skydiving experience called Genting Sky Venture, giving everyone the chance to feel the sensation of freefalling through the sky! Oh and check this out--while you're there, you can still travel the rest of the world by perusing the First World Plaza where the world is under one roof! LA Fashion Week: Ooh La La! Samora Sends Us Swooning

If Holly Golightly had divided her time between New York and Paris, then the clothes from designer Samora Olayan would be perfect for all her Parisian getaways. It was hard to miss the giant Eiffel Tower backdrop and pink bicycle with flowers in the basket at the beginning of her runway show at Mercedes-Benz LA Fashion Week. With that in mind, Samora definitely captured the essence of the carefree Paris all of us would love to have in our day to day lives. Romantic ruffles were everywhere to be seen on the runway from the necklines, waistlines, and hemlines! Mint green, pink, white, and black were the colors of choice in light and airy (sometimes sheer!) fabrics. Another trend to be aware of for Spring 2009 are lady-like wrist length and half gloves. From cocktail dresses to separates, take a look at my SLIDESHOW to see what you should wear to your garden parties next spring.
