Editor's Pick: Statement Pieces From Nashelle Jewelry

There are two things you're never fully dressed without: a smile, and accessories! I am always amazed by the power of accessories and how they can so radically transform a look. Adding accessories can take your look from day to night, make a boring look a bold one, turn a safe look into a statement-making one, and so on. Last season's soft, subdued accessories made of thin strands and clear jewels have given way to bolder, statement-making ones made of heavier materials like metal and stone for chunky, eye-catching, artful pieces. Accessorizing differentiates your style from the masses, so the items you choose should have a unique quality, which is why I'm loving pretty much everything from the Nashelle Jewelry line. NYFW Fun: Getting Dressed Right For the First Day of Fashion Week

After last season's fashion week (my first EVER), I was racked with regret and humiliation over some of my ensemble choices that simple screamed AMATEUR. For the second time around, I vowed to get it RIGHT. The first show I'd be covering was the Heart Truth's Red Dress Collection. I was super excited (it was a celeb magnet - will post on that later) but this posed quite the dilemma. The invite said everyone should wear red, but do people really follow that? Talk about double edged sword! If I wear red, I might look like a clueless amateur- so NOT how I wanted to start things off this time around. But if I don't wear red, I might look like a diva who thinks she's too cool.

Monday's Top Style + Design Headline

I don't know about you, but last night I took a cue from the writers and embarked on a strike of my own. As a reaction to being bereft of fabulous red carpet fashions for this year's Golden Globes, I angrily decided not to even bother tuning in to announcements of who won. This morning, however, curiosity got the best of me, and my strike came to an end. Luckily, I found a wonderful antidote for my consuming need to know that simultaneously satiated by craving for a red-carpet fashion-fix. Read on for InStyle.com's roundup of last night's winners which includes an examination of their signature styles as well as a look back at winning looks from less drama-filled award seasons.

Friday's Top Style + Design Headlines

We love how truly crazy and nonsensical the fashion world is. There is a very Alice in Wonderland-esque feel to it all, a world where everything is upside down, where what's "in' is really "out,' and being trendy entails wearing a trend when it is no longer a trend. In such a world, i guess you would expect iconic fashion designer Marc Jacobs to care that Victoria Beckham - the newest face of his label - earned the number 1 spot on Mr. Blackwelll's infamous Worst Dressed List. "Mr. Blackwell to me is this fictitious thing. I know there is a Mr. Blackwell, but it means absolutely nothing to me." Read on for the rest of what Marc had to say on the matter and for what VB had to say about the provocative, highly amusing ad campaign that got everyone talking this week.

Minka Kelly Shops the Pain Away At Paige

What's a girl to do after a devastating breakup? My personal preference is to shop the pain away, a sentiment shared by Friday Night Light's star Minka Kelly, who coped with her recent split from John Mayer with a retail therapy session at Paige - denim designer Paige Adams-Geller's Robertson Boulevard store. And it's clear that the star has her heart set on exacting the best type of revenge - looking HOT!

Stylehive Gets Niki And Tyson To Dish on 'Make Me A Supermodel'!

If you took Survivor, America's Next Top Model, American Idol, and the Real World, put them all in a blender, I would imagine the result would closely resemble Bravo's latest reality competition series- Make Me a Supermodel (not to mention, be an absolute MUST WATCH). Hosted by Niki Taylor and Tyson Beckford, the show will follow 14 beautiful guys and girls (finally, a show with MALE models!), as they put their best face forward during a series of challenges designed to test their supermodel-potential. Borrowing a strategy from the American Idol playbook, this series places the fate of the contestants in the hands of the viewers, who will get the chance to vote each week either by phone, text message, or online at BravoTV.com to save their faves.

Wednesday's Top Style + Design Headlines

Victoria Beckham is number one on a "Worst Dressed List"- HUH?? Bring on the "What!' and "No Ways,' the infamous Mr. Blackwell just announced the "winners' of his 48th annual worst-dressed list. What does the acid-tongued critic have against the world's Poshest fashionista? "In one skinny-mini monstrosity after another, pouty Posh can really wreck-em." Read on to see who else received fashion's top dishonor, including the pint-sized trend-setter who earned her spot by resembling "a tattered toothpick €” trapped in a hurricane."

Tuesday's Top Style + Design Headlines

While I would much rather remain in a state of blissful denial, I think it's time to accept the fact that this years Golden Globes ceremony (aka the FUN version of the Oscars) will be on hiatus this season, making it the first major casualty of the War of the Writers- and seriously, what a way to get the point across. It pains me immensely to consider the fact that this year, all we have to look forward to is an hour long news broad cast announcing the winners. How can that EVER compare to a red carpet replete with couture gowns, Joan Rivers' ranting and raving like a Loony-toon, scrutinizing who looked hot and whose stylist should be shot, the anxious anticipation to see which couples will arrive together- (and the subsequent months of speculation: are they engaged? Secretly Married? Baby on board?)
