Next Big Thing: Bodkin Redefines Eco-Chic

What do you get when you combine two friends, an eye for impeccable design, a stint as a fashion features editor at Nylon, and a background on sustainability? Bodkin. Designer Samantha Pleet and writer Eviana Hartman brought their vast interests together seamlessly for the fashion-forward, Brooklyn-based collection, but as Hartman says, it is the whole process - sourcing the materials and knowing where they come from - that defines them as a socially conscious label. And while they're both passionate about this cause, they try not to let it overwhelm their design philosophy. Pleet's signature fairytale-esque style adds a bit of lighthearted flair to the sleek, streamlined collection, giving it a playfulness many other sustainability-focused labels lack. 18th Day of Xmas: All I Want for Christmas is Something Vintage

For Christmas, give me something with a past, a little intrigue, and some history! No, I don't mean a novel. I want something vintage, where each piece has it's own little hidden story.

I like to think my vintage Halston dress had a long life before me. Maybe it was worn by someone really interesting, like the true desperate housewives of the 1950s, before there were microwaves or TiVo.

And I'm convinced that my 1965 Chanel watch from graced the arm of someone truly fab... maybe it saw Andy Warhol at Studio 64, or came from one of Courtney Love's yardsales!
