There are people who don't hold onto things, who donate clothing right when it goes out of style, and who refrain from holding onto precious memorabilia. I am not one of those people. I have always struggled parting with clothing, books, old toys, shoes, ticket stubs, seashells, even fortune cookie fortunes. My (clutter-phobe) father has difficulty understanding this compulsion of mine; he loves uncluttered counter tops and minimalistic rooms. And after a few years of living/studying/eating in cramped college quarters, I too am beginning to understand the beauty of minimalism. All of my "stuff" made my already small room almost unbearable.
