Fashionindie Week Brooklyn: Alisha Trimble, For Girls Who Just Want to Have Fun

Okay, so it wasn't exactly love at first sight- getting there was rough, between puddle-jumping in Miu Mius and having my cab driver leave me in front of a fishy (literally) Chinatown market mid-storm, but my mood brightened once I opened the door to Catherine Slip Studios, where Alisha Trimble's spring/summer 2009 collection was to be presented. Awash in a sea of reds and pinks, models posed while the crowd sipped wine and snapped pics. The collection was overwhelmingly cute in a half "Alice In Wonderland," half menswear-inspired way, with a sprinkling of hearts for good measure. I especially loved the tuxedo-style dresses with multiple misplaced bow ties - it was a fun spin on the 'borrowed from the boys' trend that took hold of so many collections this season. All in all, plenty of cute party dresses for the girl who just wants to have fun.

Hive 5: Cuffed Sleeves and Cutoffs, 90210 Style

The new 90210 premieres on September 2, and I can't believe I'm saying this, but I'm kind of going to miss the California-cool 90s looks that practically defined the era, you know, long before Alexander Wang and the like decided to bring the cuffed sleeves and cutoffs back at prices that make a trip to the gas station feel like bargain shopping...humph. Not so sure about that one. But an oversized, perfectly draped tee tucked into some light-wash distressed denim shorts? Now we're talking. But back to what I was saying before, I honestly hope the clothes on the new 90210 do impress, because if Luke Perry isn't coming back, I'll need something to hold my attention...

Web Gem: Celeb Style On The Set!

Gas prices are rising and driving a car is increasingly tapping into my fashion funds. In order to appease both my transportation and style needs I obviously look to Gossip Girl for guidance-- that would be your first move too right? People StyleWatch has caught Leighton Meester's character Blair Waldorf on two occasions ditching the town car for a beach cruiser bicycle, and looking just as chic as usual. While living in a city full of hills and traffic doesn't make biking everywhere feasible, a recent biking excursion while in France had me wishing that San Francisco was a bike friendly city, and yearning for my college campus where no doubt I will adopt this means of transportation. Check out People StyleWatch to see more of what's going on on the set of Gossip Girl and your other favorite shows that can't return soon enough.
