The Tracy Reese fall/winter ‘08 collection was inspired by the power of nature, a theme that extended beyond the clothes and onto the hair and makeup looks as well. I got the chance to hang backstage before the show to watch the magic unfold and of course, to find out exactly how to recreate the stunningly sexy looks.
Hair:
Stylist Edris Nicholls kept the hair loose, wavy, and elemental to correspond with Tracy’s collection- Read on for more on how you can replicate the rockin looks!
While today’s pumps are significantly higher and shinier than their classic cap-toed Chanel counterparts, they all maintain the demure, polished quality that draws us to them. Case in point: these patent-trim spectators from Giuseppe Zanotti. I love how he’s used non-traditional colors to give them a contemporary edge, but I’m not too crazy about the price! While there are many copycat cap toe pumps out there, only a few can truly be considered worthy substitutes for these Zanotti beauties. See the slideshow of affordable spectator pumps and let us know what you think!

The overarching feel of the fall/winter 2008 collections was sleek sophistication mixed with high-impact glamour, mostly due to the fact that almost every designer had a serious case of accessory-fever. Almost all the looks in the shows were paired with either hats (from beret’s, to brim hats, to knits, to fedoras, to small hats, to big hats, and so much more), fancy hair pieces, fur boleros, layered necklaces, long leather gloves, and/or belts (either super-thick or super-thin but always super sleek- either individually, several at a time, or all piled on in a single look).
In a season filled with dark and muted tones, Tracy Reese presented a fall/winter ’08 collection replete with beautifully rich jewel-tones, soft airy fabrics, and cheerful patterns and prints. Tracy used nature as a source of inspiration for this collection: green was the dominant color, along with blue and neutral shades. We also saw beautiful floral frocks, soft sheath dresses, feathered embellishments, and striking animal prints. The theme on this runway was anything goes: large oversized sweaters with fancy sequined skirts, mixing gold and silver, bold colors with bold animal prints, fancy frocks with ‘don’t mess’ lace up boots. Being bold and beautiful was clearly the take-home message.
